Social work and substance use: teaching the basics
This guide to teaching and learning has been written for lecturers and tutors working within social work education. The guidance and activities can be used at both qualifying and post qualifying levels and across a range of modules and practice learning opportunities. It is not intended to be a prescriptive guide, simply a way to support social work educators seeking to increase or consolidate their current teaching and learning in relation to alcohol and other drugs.

This booklet gives tips and guidance for parents and carers to approach the issue of drinking with their children, teenagers, or young adults. Talking about it early on will help their child to understand alcohol and its effects and help them to make sensible choices about drinking in the future.

I feel when you drink
Four young people between the ages of 13 and 17 who are affected by and living with a parent who struggles with their alcohol use created this book. This book is mainly for parents who struggle with their alcohol use with the hope that this book will help parents understand how children feel when they are drinking and that it will help them realise the effect that their drinking has on their relationship.
