Introduction

Direct work enables us to build effective relationships with children and young people and often at difficult moments in their lives.  Children and young people tell us using words and behaviour that they have big feelings, which can be hard for them to explain.  This requires our practice to be compassionate, supportive, and thoughtful to help children and young people through these difficult times.  Direct work resources provide creative and engaging ideas to hear the wishes and feelings of children and young people to develop meaningful plans that help make a difference to their lives.

This direct work resource toolkit will provide us with colourful, fun, and interesting ways to work with children, young people, and their families.  The resources in this toolkit can be used within individual or a series of direct work sessions and will help us reflect children and young people’s wishes, feelings, and journey clearly.  Parents/carers and family members can also be included, helping us to understand more about children and young people’s lives.

The resources have been converted to editable documents for us to have the option to use in virtual environments.
