Barnardo’s have been developing tools and resources to help identify and engage young people at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).

Although this is aimed at the Welsh public, all the tools and resources are useful for everyone.

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) screening tool

This Cafcass tool can be applied to all children (male and female) under the age of 18 and its purpose is to enable practitioners to assess a child’s level of risk of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and/or child criminal exploitation (CCE) in a concise and consistent manner.

This tool was developed by Cafcass.

It’s Not Okay: What is it?

This resource provides information to explain child sexual exploitation in simple and clear language.  There are case studies to help children and young people recognise others have had the same experience, we hope they can empower our children and young people to share their stories in an effort to begin their healing journey and seek justice to protect themselves and others.

The Real Story?

The Real Story? is a child sexual exploitation and sexual health resource pack helping to develop our knowledge of how to have conversations with children and young people.  Also, there are useful sessions to help prepare and plan meaningful direct work sessions with children, young people and can be used with their parents and carers too.

This tool was developed by Barnardo’s Safe Choices NI in 2014.

Pant-o-saurus

NSPCC Pant-o-saurus tool helps to have simple conversations with children to help keep them safe from sexual abuse. Talk PANTS helps children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell someone they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.

Exploring Healthy Relationships
