Resource booklet for parents and carers
This booklet provides a resource for parents who experience violence from their child/adolescent. We hope it will help to increase the safety and wellbeing of parents and carers and provide strategies to support them to parent their child/adolescent in ways that promote caring, responsibility and non-violence.
This tool was developed by the Kent and Medway Domestic Abuse Strategy Group in 2014.
Non Violent Resistance (NVR) Programme Handbook
Non-violent resistance (NVR) addresses violent and harmful behaviours in children and adolescents. NVR can help parents and carers overcome their sense of helplessness. It can help develop a support network that will stop violent and harmful behaviours both in and out of the home. It can improve relationships between family members and the outside world.
This Programme Handbook was developed by Declan Coogan and Eileen Lauster, University of Galway, in 2015.
Adolescent family violence intervention programme: Step-Up
Step-Up is a nationally recognised adolescent family violence intervention programme designed to address youth violence toward family members. Violent behaviour includes threats, intimidation, property destruction, degrading language and physical violence. The goal of Step-Up is for youth to stop violence and abuse toward their family and develop respectful family relationships so that all family members feel safe at home.
